Check out IBM's Smarter Cities project with Dubuque, IA. Smarter Cities a subset of it's larger Smarter Planet Initiative, looks to be one of the most exciting occurrences of not just business automation, but of business intelligence and data gathering and hyper/brilliant data/usage allocation.
